The 2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship is casting its shadow.
12 rounds of thrilling Rallycross action awaits and EKS is ready for the season opener in Montalegre, Portugal this weekend. The team already entered the country for final tests at the historic track of Lousada and will be in perfect shape for the first outing of the season. “"The start of the season feels a bit like Christmas in childhood"says EKS team boss and driver Mattias Ekström. “"You are so excited about all of the presents and completely focused on opening the first one.”"
For this year’s season-opener, Mattias has one wish: “"We hope for some sunshine and dry conditions, but at the moment there is winter wonderland. Last year’s Montalegre RX was a festival of mud and rain. Especially on Saturday it was not only racing for us, but also a bit of a test day.”" Beside nice weather, EKS also aims for a good result. The team worked flat out to prepare the two completely new Audi S1 EKS RX quattro.
New signing Toomas “Topi” Heikkinen will celebrate his debut in EKS colours in Montalegre. "“I'’m really looking forward to it. EKS is a great team and the Audi S1 EKS RX quattro is super fun to drive. We did some proper testing on different tracks and I still need some more practice during the next weeks, but I’m ready to rumble Portugal.”" Both Ekström and Heikkinen reached the semi-finals in 2015. This year EKS is looking for more. Seconds out!
