EKS: On top of the world onward to Hockenheim

For the first time in EKS history, the team enters a round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship on top of the World RX teams’ standings.
After the impressive performance at the season-opener in Montalegre, Mattias Ekström and Toomas “Topi” Heikkinen will flex their muscles again at round two in Hockenheim. Mattias is doing double-duty by racing in the World RX and DTM during the same weekend. “To race in both series is a great challenge and I love these kind of challenges,” says the busy EKS team boss and driver.
Although Mattias did not enter the World RX event at Hockenheim last year, he did get a feeling for the track during the official test a couple of weeks ago. "“They made a lot of improvements in comparison to last year. I like the track. The starting area is located on the dragstrip, which is very slippery in wet conditions, but after our two-day test in Höljes, I’m really confident. We are on target and I’m looking for another good performance.”"
Teammate Topi Heikkinen celebrated a flying start with a podium finish in Portugal. “"It was great to get a trophy in my first race for EKS. Hockenheim will be fun, driving together with DTM is great. In wet conditions, the track is super tricky, but for me, the weather conditions don’t make any difference. Our performance is quite strong at the moment, so I hope for the next podium and to stay on top of the world with the team.”"
Keep in mind …
