More than three months after the last race the Euro RX Super 1600 Prize-Giving Gala was held in January, where Krisztián Szabó collected his trophy as an Euro RX champion.

The FIA Off-Road Prize Giving Gala was held on last friday, hosted at Porto in Portugal. The FIA World Rallycross and the FIA European Rallycross champions, including the Euro RX Super 1600 champion Krisztián Szabó who had three victories last year and became the first Hungarian who has won this category, were given their awards.

Finally I could collect my trophy which was given by the FIA Off-Road Commission. The prize-giving ceremony was in a beautiful palace at Porto followed by a dinner party. It was a high quality event – said Szabó, who secured his Euro RX Super 1600 title in October with the Volland Racing Team’s Skoda Fabia.

For his merits, the Hungarian National Auto Sport Association (MNASZ) chose him as the best rallycross driver of the year and the FIA Central European Zone chose him as the talent of the year. But Szabó had to wait for his most valuable reward until last friday.

Porto is a familiar place for me as we arrive here at first when we go to Montalegre, the home of the Rallycross of Portugal. I took my first Euro RX victory there – continued the Hungarian, who want to defend his title in 2017. – I have already prepared for the next season, I am looking forward to the first race which will be here in Portugal. I have to wait unti April – finished the champion.
